Sara, I used to have carpet squares! I made them into homes for my collection. My main character was Prince and his "sidekick" was Santa, Prince was almost an outcast at one point because he started dating one of my friends kimp and it didn't go well with the others. I loved making all kinds of stories up (I did the same with my beanie babies) but there was always drama (Prince either getting drunk and flirting with other girls or others turning up saying they a relative of his and trying to dupe him into doing stupid things) and I LOVED playing outdoors with them, I would make swimming pools and play areas for them. I miss being a child, although I do have to admit that I get them out sometimes and mess around with them

LOL, a dog dating a cat--scandalous! xD I loved using some of the LPS props/scenes for them because those figures were about the same size. My favorite is the doghouse with the picket-fenced yard in front; a few of the pups (usually personal favorites such as Vanessa, Christie, & Kate) would share that. ^^ I wanted to use my Pound Puppy playsets as well, but unfortunately the PiMPs look like giants in relation to those. But Barbie pet supplies usually worked for them, too.
I used a lot of factors to pair them up--size, breed, assigned personalities, or just how they looked together. x3

I took them in the bath with me and that was their swimming lesson for school - it was usually just the babies so Peggy, Jasmine, Kylie, Blossom, Elsa's pupps and kittens etc. I had a Tomy train set which was set up on on a massive board on my bedroom floor (which annoyed my mum as she couldnt' get in my room to hoover/change bed etc) and then the in my pocket lot would hop on and off the train to get to different places. I had a fisher price camper van with a boat on top that Tess, Jamie, Buffy, Charlie, Kiki, Sacha, Pixie and Pepe would all go off on adventures to. Kurt, Spot, Windsor and the colour alternate Windsor (who I thought was Jessie for a long time) were the security team and used to patrol the village to ward off any dangers! Bertie (kitty) was the gardener for the village and Miss Pretty (kitty) - his wife would boss him around. This was of course when I was around 9/10. 20 years later with my own house, I put carpet on the boarding in my loft to avoid splinters and have it all set up again... (it's good for after a bad day at work where I just want to feel like a child again!) Does anyone else still play with them now or is is just me that hasn't grown up?! /

Oh my gosh this thread is bringing back so many memories!
I used to ALWAYS pair them up into couples. When my friends and I played, we used the stands to make walls for puppy "houses" for the couples we put together lol. I can remember pairing up the series 1 puppies especially. It was always:
Ricky & Sally Prince & Jemma Paddy & Penny Bruno & Trusty Tiny & Duchess Winston & Chi Chi Pepe & Pixie Spot & FriFi Mungo & Mo Herman & Scooter McRuff & Queenie Mischief & Santa

Aww, this thread is cute! I still think it's interesting that many of us partnered up our puppies!

Aww, this thread is cute! I still think it's interesting that many of us partnered up our puppies! I know, right? It's cute we did that. Because my friends and I had all the same puppies - so that we wouldn't get them mixed up when playing together - my mum would mark mine (on the base) with a tiny spot of nail polish, so I'd know what ones were mine. I found a few figures the other day, lurking in the loft, still with these marks haha.

What a fantastic nostalgic thread this is. Well I wish we had all known each other 30 years ago. What an amazing game we could have played together. When I was around 7 or 8, myself and a relative began playing a game that became known as toyland. Its basically the same idea as so many here used to play. We had many figures ranging from kinder egg terrapins, crocos, hippos etc and of course imp figures. We were also big fans of diecast cars so most characters ended up with their own car. In fact we used to hold a big motorsport race which many of my fave pimps took part in. They all had friends and siblings and partners. There were plenty wedding's too. Most characters ran their own businesses or worked for others that had businesses. There were road trips, adventures, even wars. Games could go on for days using lots of characters, and sometimes we would take the current faves when we went visiting and play with just a few whilst there. Some of it was influenced by adults we knew or by things we saw on T.V and most of it came from our imagination. We played this right up until I was 13 or 14 and although playing with them stopped, i never ever wanted to be without my toylanders. I kept all these characters, and when my eldest son got to around 6 or 7 I told him of this game that I had played as a child and he wanted to play too. So I dug out my shoe box of characters and designated him some doublers and some less well used figures, plus wee bought figures from ebay to add to the "toylanders". When ever he was staying at mine we would play and this went on right up until just before Covid and when my younger two kids were born. I hope that they will want to play too when they are old enough, and I know my oldest wants to play along as well and he is 16 now.
