Regardless of the answers, I will keep this forum indefinitely!

Never had a reason to use Discord so I don't know how that compares to a forum. The other one...urgh, was like this: *checks* "Ah, there's the last thing from yesterday. Good." *happens to scroll down one* "WAIT WTFH, what is this and why isn't it on top?" *scrolls further* "Why...is it all...in random...order...what use is this mess?" Hoping they fixed that or will, because I've been wondering about the potential for creating a group/site of some kind for the purpose of letting people share any photos or videos from places you miss that no longer exist; I really couldn't believe that there doesn't seem to be one, broken into boards for different areas like Craigslist is. Tried NextDoor and it had very little usage. We've got a local news site of course, but apparently no just "talk to people in your region"--one very widely-known and accessed. I also keep wishing there were a "describe things you remember and have somebody somewhere recognize and provide images of them" site. 'Cause oh, the amount of stuff I'm desperate to find again...but anyway, that's all off-topic, and I doubt I'd be able to make such a site that'd become successful. It'd just be so amazing if there could be one. ;;

How about Reddit? A subreddit would work mostly like a forum, and people can sort threads by newest/most popular/etc, and use the search function.

Can a subreddit be private though?

Yes, apparently there are four types of communities on Reddit:
Public Communities Anyone with a Reddit account can view, comment, and post in a public community.
Restricted Communities Anyone can view and comment in restricted communities, but only approved members of the community that are approved by moderators can post. It’s up to mods to add and remove approved members.
Private Communities Only members of the community that are approved by moderators can view and participate in private communities. It’s up to mods to add and remove approved members.
Premium-Only Communities Only Reddit Premium members can create, view, and participate in Premium-only communities. Also, a community can only be set as Premium-only at the time of creation and anyone can moderate a Premium-only community, even if they’re not a Reddit Premium member.

Ahhh, I didn't know that. Well I would also be totally onboard with a Reddit community, as I already have an account on there. And it's nice because you can separate posts into threads, like on this kind of forum. Discord can't do that.

I vote for Reddit too. Discord is also fine, but hard pass on Facebook.

What's everyone's reasoning for wanting to move? Is it just the photo thing?

The photo thing is really the only reason I would want an additional community made. I like this as the main community, and the other would just be for photos. Haha. Maybe that's not a very good reason to start a whole other community? I don't have a flickr or photobucket or anything, so it's kind of a convoluted thing for me to put photos on here, hence why I still don't have a user photo. Lol.
I also like this forum because of the wealth of information hidden in the depths of the posts. haha.
Maybe it's easier to just suck it up and get a flickr or something? If not everyone is in agreement, maybe it's not a good idea.

We can pay to get more photo storage here. I can look up how much it is. I just don't want to pay it myself!

The free plan I have right now allows for a total of 200 MB worth of file storage. We're currently using 99% of our limit.
For $3 a month, we can upgrade to 500 MB. For $6 a month, we can upgrade to 800 MB.
Sense there are workarounds, I'm not willing to pay continuously for this, but I would chip in if we wanted to pool our money, say for a year's worth.

Well for what it's worth...I can no longer recommend Photobucket, but Flickr (along with Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive) is now extremely useful to me. Any of those would certainly be worth registering with if you feel so inclined. ^^ Proboards does have its flaws, like most sites. I still have to highlight all links and copy them directly or hit "go to," otherwise I'm taken to an error page via a URL that looks like: "http://redirect.viglink.com/?key=71fe2139a887ad501313cd8cce3053c5&subId=5415238&u=https%3A//" I also was just wondering why signatures don't display on mobile, but of course that kind of little stuff doesn't really matter; on the whole I like it.

I think I need to just suck it up and get a flickr, I guess. haha. I don't think this forum is active enough to get enough folks to chip in to an extent that would make it reasonably priced for all of us.
