Hello! I've been trying for quite some time to determine the brands of two small plastic puppy toys I had as a child in the 90s. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck. I was wondering if anyone here may be familiar with them.
The first is a rather realistic Shih Tzu, which I've only been able to find two pictures of online, neither of which indicate the brand or manufacturer:
The dog was made of hard plastic, NOT resin (I specify because I know there's someone on eBay and Amazon who makes similar Shih Tzu figurines out of resin). It was a smidge too small to be a Barbie accessory. It was about perfect, sizewise, for a dollhouse or diorama. I searched through images of vintage Puppy in my Pockets, but this one doesn't seem to be from that line.
The other pup I've been trying to ID is one that I haven't been able to find ANY pictures of online. I did try to draw a picture for reference... uh:
...Yeah, I'm a terrible artist. ^^;
This pup was not "realistic". As shown in my image, it had oval-ish solid black eyes and a bit of a smile (although a lot less obvious than the one I drew, as it was molded into the snout). It was made out of hard plastic and was one solid piece -- no movable parts or anything. There also weren't any other materials besides the plastic, so no tail or anything with faux-fur or hair. I forgot to draw it in, but the pup did have a collar on it, although it wasn't painted and was just molded directly on the neck. The pup's style was, overall, a bit more whimsical and "cartoony". This one did look like it might have been some sort of Barbie or Fisher Price dollhouse accessory (although, again, I've had no luck trying to find it in vintage pictures of them).
As shown in the picture, the pup was standing on three legs, with one of the forelegs curved up in the air. It balanced just fine, I recall. I also can't remember it having a distinct breed, at least as far as I know. The most notable detail was that one side of the pup was just plain white plastic while the other side was white plastic with black spots painted on it. The spots were on the body and the ear of that side was solid black. Other than that, the eyes and nose were painted black and there were no other colors.
With both pups, they couldn't have been more recent than 1995, I'd guess. Like I said, I owned them since I was a small child in the 90s. They might possibly be from the 80s. I honestly don't remember where I got them from, nor does my mom. It's entirely possible that they were bought at a yard sale or something mixed in with my mom's Barbie collection, which I played with as a kid. If either of them were accessories to a toy that I got, I can't remember. I definitely didn't play with them as if they came with any doll or toy I had.
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions on what they might be, please let me know! Like I said, I'm pretty sure neither are vintage Puppy in my Pocket or Barbie. I also have extensively searched through vintage Littlest Pet Shop images and haven't found anything there. I may have overlooked something though, and I'd really appreciate any information.
