I'd love to get mice one day, they come in such pretty colours. As for the smell, am I weird for loving the musky smell that my male rats make? When I get them out for cuddles I press my nose to their fur and give them a good sniff.

I just figured you liked soda! Lmao Tasha, don't kill me *rubs eyes* XDDDD Yes, Pepsi and Ginger were great rats. I had a very humorous mouse as well named Snickers. We ended up getting him a special "mouse cage" with very tight bars. Didn't stop him from escaping. He would squeeze out and then scurry around the room. He managed to impregnate one of the female mice that my friend at the time dumped on me when she got bored of them. Squeezed in and out of her cage at night, sly devil. Then he would sleep in my dwarf hamster's cage (also dumped by my then friend). It was the funniest thing. Every night, I'd put Snickers away with his brother. Every morning, he was in the hamster cage, curled up with the hamster. I couldn't have mice again though. Their lifespans are just too short Oh and if you haven't noticed, all of my pets when I was young were named after food. Gingerale, Pepsi, Snickers, Reese, Twix, Oreo, Cookie, Cream Soda. Oh yes XD There were a few exceptions... For unknown reasons Snicker's brother was named Shrew XDDD

XDD Snickers & Ben should've teamed up, they would have been the naughtiest pair of mice since Pinky & the Brain.
It is sad how short their lives are, though. :[ The only way to see that as an upside is to say that it allows humans to experience life with more individual domestic animals.
Hehehee! I usually gave strange or formal names to my animals--human names, character names, ones from my name books, ones inspired by the animal in some way, long & fancy ones, stuff like that.

I'm loving seeing everyone's fur-babies!! My family had a black lab named Lady when I was growing up. She was the sweetest dog I've ever met. My dad had to put her down when she was 14 due to health complications. She had ear infections most of her life and she was allergic to all the fowl that she retrieved for my dad when they went hunting, as well as grass...and she was an outdoor dog. Didn't stop her from being super happy at all times though. I made an LPS custom set to honor her a while back. You can see that here.I had an albino rat named Betty when I was in grade school. She was a class pet that I got to take home at the end of the school year. She only lived for the rest of the summer, but we had a great time together those short months. She loved to ride around on my shoulder like a parrot and play with my hair. When I was teenager I fell in love with reptiles and got my first leopard gecko. I perused my Disney movies for a name and landed on Meeko (from Pocahontas). He loved being held and would climb up my sleeve and hang out on my shoulder. He only lived for a few years. Sadly the pet store owner hadn't informed me of the proper care for them and he had complications shedding due to lack of moisture in his cage. My parents hadn't thought to do their own research before buying him as a birthday present for me. I got another leopard gecko in college who was already named Matilla. She was being given away on Craigslist by someone who was moving and couldn't take her with. Apparently she'd been passed between a few owners before that as well, and they had no idea how old she was. I took her in so she could spend the rest of her life in one place. She hadn't been handled at all by her previous owners and it stressed her out too much when I tried to, so she remained what I like to call a display pet. She lived for 5 years with me and passed away peacefully. My kitty Bindy is eight. I adopted her from a litter being given away on Craigslist when she was just 8 weeks old. She's named after Steve Irwin's daughter. He had just passed at the time that I got her. She's turned out to be quite the investment as she's had lots of dental problems and has had to have most of her teeth pulled, but she's worth every penny. She's extremely affectionate, hyper most of the time, and still acts like a kitten. My baby Carmel just turned 16. She was born in a litter of seven from a stray cat who spent the summer in my neighborhood when I was 12. I was the one who found them in my neighbors barn and was the first person she ever saw. My sister and I named the entire litter after candy and other sweet things as we had already dubbed the mom Caramello after the candy bar. There was Carmel, Chocolate (who my sister kept and still lives with my parents), Fudge, Cinnamon, Sugar, Butterscotch, and Vanilla. Carmel was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease a few months ago. She's responded extremely well to treatment though, so I'm hopeful that we'll have a few more years together. I've always wanted a snake, so I might look into getting a ball python in the future when I can afford it. The color mutations that I like are kind of pricey so I'll have to save up for one. I've also been itching to get another leopard gecko. And I'd love to get another kitten, but I've made a vow not to do that until Carmel passes. She deserves all of my attention in her last few years, and I don't want to stress out my best friend with a new addition.

I love those names! Meeko & Bindi & the dessert-themed ones. :3 And the kitties are so adorable! Oh, Carmel...I hope the rest of her life is very, very happy. My little brother had a leopard gecko named Leo for some 15 years, and he passed away last year. It was like with many fish--no sign of him even slowing down, and then one day, you just looked into his house and he was gone. :{ At one time he'd been given a girlfriend (Cleo, heheh)...but for some reason, she didn't last very long. My brother wound up joking that it was because Leo didn't like her, but we never actually observed him bullying her, or anything that would've explained it.
I love snakes, too, and would love to have one. My mom always goes, "Yeeeough" when I say that, but I think they're both cute and beautiful. I can just imagine letting one hang around my neck and ride on me, flicking his little forked tongue while I stroke his chin...XD
I have a really, really long list of all the pets we've ever had, especially because I named every last fish and tiny bug or baby bunny or salamander or whatever.

Thank you all for that. We only had him for one year, but the vet saw him the day before und doubted he was young. He had typical old phenomenons, so he had to be older than just one year. Was afraid of getting a new hamster, because I felt guilty for some reasons... but now he loves me and I love him so much. <3
